Focus on Matt Kuchar

American golfer Matt Kuchar has been dubbed as one of the gentlest man in all of the sport and is a regular in the US PGA Tour, having previously played on the Nationwide Tour. He has won five titles on the US PGA Tour, with all of these wins spanning a period of 11 years. He enjoyed his greatest success in the early 2000s before suffering a massive slump in his form during which time he was struggling to maintain his playing status on the US PGA Tour.

However, he kept up the fighting spirit that he is known for and on the back of a new, one plane swing, he reinvigorated himself and began to climb up the rankings of the Official Golf World Rankings. Matt Kuchar has earned fame as one of the most consistent players at present in the US PGA Tour over the last five years, having won prize money amounting to $ 15 million in these years and between 2009 and 2012, he recorded a whopping 30 finishes in the top 10. He also topped the money list of the US PGA Tour in 2010.

But his biggest success came in 2012 when he won The Players Championship, the flagship annual event of the US PGA Tour. This win catapulted him to number five in the world golf rankings, his highest ever ranking till date. In what can be best described as his will to win, Matt Kuchar has fought tooth and nail to keep his status as a top 10 player for forty straight weeks.

The new season has also began on a promising note for the American as he defeated Hunter Mahan to win WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship, his first and arguably the most important for him in the World Golf Championship.

Johnson dating Paulina Gretzky

Paulina Gretzky, everyone’s favorite model on the social networking platform Instagram, is dating professional golfer Dustin Johnson, who currently plays on the PGA Tour. Rumors about their relationship had been surfacing for quite some time and now, the daughter of legendary hockey player Wayne Gretzky has given her followers the photo to prove what had been speculated is indeed true when she posted a photograph of herself and the golfer on her Instagram. The photo shows the 24 year old Gretzky and the 28 year old golfer cozying up to each other with a simple blue heart in the captions section.

According to several reports that have surfaced over the last few weeks, the pair was absolutely inseparable in Kapalua in Hawaii when Johnson was taking part in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, with several media outlets even reporting that Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky chose to stay back at Hawaii a few days after the tournament had concluded. Gretzky is famous for posting raunchy photos of her on her Instagram account as well as her singing career on some occasions.

Paulina was even linked to Jarret Stoll, someone who is considered as the playboy of the National Hockey League in recent months but in a recent interview with a magazine, the buxom blonde moved to dispel those rumors where she stated that the two of them met through mutual friends but they are not dating each other, before adding that she would never date a hockey player.

And her comments means Dustin Johnson has more than a fair chance at Miss Gretzky. The American golfer, who went on to win the tournament in Hawaii had previously been linked with Amanda Caulder, his college friend and supposed ex-flame as well as Natalie Gulbis, who plays on the Ladies PGA Tour.

Furyk speaks about his 2012

For golfer Jim Furyk, the PGA season 2012 season was not that good – with several meltdowns and back to back losses. Still Jim did not stop from speaking about all the painful loses with a leading golf magazine.

He admitted that this was the most depressing interview he has ever given to anyone. Davis Love III had famously told the magazine that Jim was probably only 3 swings from being a Player of the Year nominee, but Jim answered that, whilst he is trying to take that as a compliment – that he is so close to the top of the game – he struggles to see past the fact that he game consistently let him down time and again last season. McDowell tries to follow his dream

For two consecutive majors, Graeme McDowell will begin the final in the last group following a 67 at the third round lead him to a 7-under par finish, with Adam Scott who is ahead of him by four shots.

McDowell finished at second spot, just a stroke behind leader Webb Simpson, while he sought another U.S. Open title in San Francisco in the previous month, but now intends to follow the footsteps of Darren Clarke, who was the former Open Champion.

McDowell is hoping to win in the next tournament. McDowell believes that Darren is an inspiration and he will think about him during the competition. In fact, when he was still a young boy, he dreamed of joining the last fairway, being with the last group to perform in The Open Championship.

He thinks that being in the last group of the consecutive major championships is special for him.

He said that he cannot expect to win but he will compete and do just the right thing, and also to give himself an opportunity to be included in the lead of three or four going on a Sunday afternoon and be able to play with the leader.

Padraig Harrington said that McDowell is only following his destiny – to do what he was meant to do.

Harrington thinks that if McDowell wins his second major, it will make things go smoothly for him – a second win will allow him to relax and it will be easy for him to manage that position.  It is likely that a lot of majors are in store for McDowell, he said

Harrington also said that Rory already won majors while he was young, which is the secret if one intends to win plenty of majors. He proves that he does not need to improve much, staying the same is also a good place to be.

Olympic Fever at Moncur Golf

Seeing Usain Bolt quoted at a price of 20.00 may seem a little peculiar but that is the price on offer for the world record-holder and defending Olympic champion being disqualified in the 200 metres at the London Games in August.

So just what are the reasons to back this market for the London Olympic 200m final on 9th August?

First, the big man has yet to race over the distance in 2012.  Before the Jamaican’s record-shattering breakthrough in 2008, what American track and field fans call “the deuce” was always reckoned to be his best distance, provided he was never given any of the inner three lanes which cramp the 6ft 6in sprinter’s extra-long stride around the bend. McDowell is confident

After missing out US Open by a whisker, Graeme McDowell is keen on winning a major title. He is utterly disappointed by the loss. He had a fondness for coastal California this year for which he was in the US Open this year.

The thirty two year old was keen to win this but is pinning hopes on winning a major title soon. He along with Jim Furyk, fared bad where he got off to a poor start in the final round with 3 bogeys with 6 holes.

But he came back well by delivering a birdie and at the seventeenth left. At last a birdie was needed to put the ball in the eighteenth hole play-off with counterpart Webb Simpson. The ball finally could not sink in the twenty four foot hole. He stated that he was practically behind eight ball way too early. He had to fight really hard from thereon. The golf course does not really allow playing well and getting into a rhythm, he added.  He said that he was the happy to hang around and make birdies amidst slog.

McDowell is confident that his performance will earn him laurels and put him in the forefront of major golfing tournaments. His spectacular win at Pebble Beach was trailed by the miss-a-wink at the Ryder’s Cup a Celtic Manor in the latter half of the same year.

The attention and expectations that arose from his fame affected his game a lot. He did not win any championships last year and has struggled this year as well. So he is pretty determined to win the championships waiting for him.
